Holy Trinity - Saint John the Theologian
Serving the Orthodox faithful of Jackson MS
Sunday School Notes:

CristoV Anesth! Christ is Risen! to one and all. With the coming of May we will be winding down our catechism program for the January 2013-May 2013. We are of course planning to hold classes on Sunday School on May 12th and on May 19th.

On Sunday May 19th we will go back to church when the Divine Liturgy ends and conclude the course of study with a small program.

This program will feature the teachers talking about the work their students have accomplished this year and presenting each student with a small gift.

Please make an effort to be present on both these Sundays. Although "Summer" is the season for traveling and vacationing - we encourage all of young people and our not so young to continue worshiping with us each and every Sunday.

During Holy Week - our altar servers were presented with a copy of the latest printed edition of the "Services of Holy Week and Pascha" just Father Andrew’s way of thanking these fine young men for their time and service they render to Holy Trinity Saint John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church of Jackson. It is our hope and prayer that these books will help them better understand and appreciate our Orthodox Christina faith.

PHILOPTOCHOS CORNER

Holy week is always a exciting week. We started the week with a pancake breakfast after Liturgy. The pancakes made by Paula Fowler. Thanks to Father Andrew & Dianna for donating the breakfast items.

Thanks to the ladies who came to clean. Also Theo & Michael for their help to make the church beautiful for Pascha We celebrated Palm Sunday with a fish lunch. Many ladies helped that day. The profits went to the International Orthodox Christian Charities. It was a great time of fellowship together.

At last I get to Holy Friday, my personal favorite day!

The Philoptochos decorated the Epitaphios so beautifully. The services of Good Friday are always so beautiful! To top it off we had myrrh-bearers so beautifully dressed in whit they were:. Elena & Julia Zouboukos, Ana Kelly Hontzas, Adayah Woods, Anastasia & Sophia & Zoe Efstratiou, Alexia Cora and Kiersten and Emma Rose Brinkerhoff.

After a beautiful week of services we celebrated the resurrection of Christ!! WE RENEW OUR FAITH AGAIN!

Thank you to the Philoptochos ladies who stayed to serve & clean-up after the Anastasis breakfast!

Philoptochos Elections - Sunday May 19th after Liturgy! Please give your stewardship dues to Sophia so our election can be ratified.

I want to thank Mrs. Maria Cajoleas for donating the flowers which decorated the icon of the Bridegroom..

Thank you to the Chris Grillis family & Maria Grillis for donating the wreath in memory of their parents.

Thankyou to Father Andrew & Presvytera Bonnie for donating the palms and the Candle and candle holders for Holy Friday and the Anastasis.

I just want to thank everyone who helped me during my two years serving as President of our beloved Philoptochos. To the Philoptochos board I thank-you for your help! It was indeed a honor to serve Philoptochos & our parish. I shall never forget this honor of serving. We do have beautiful parishioners. I want to thank Father Andrew too!
